Hi my name is Mike Swickis and I am a professional guitarist and teacher. Stylistically I try cover a wide variety of genres which include, Rock, Jazz, Blues, Country, Pop and Roots Music. In 1997 I graduated fron St Francis Xavier University in Antigonish NS with a BA in Music. After many years of playing in many different situations, I have extensive experience in playing Clubs/Bars, Musical Theatre, Weddings, Socials, Cruise Ship Show Bands, Big Bands, Jazz Combos and in my own trio. I read and write charts and can cover a wide range of guitar playing. Locally I have peformed with Rainbow Stage, Ron Paley, Walle Larsson, Michelle Gregoire, Janice Finlay, Kathy Kennedy Blues Band, and as a leader with the Winnipeg Jazz Festival and Guitarama.

I have released two CD's under my own name, "Songs I Wrote on the Plane" (2013) and "iGlu" (2015) both of which are available on itunes. "Songs I Wrote on the Plane" was favorably reviewed in Guitar Player magazine. (see website for review at swickis.com)

As a teacher I have been a private teacher for over 20 years and I also possess a B.Education. I teach all ages from beginner to advanced and also teach in the public school system as a sub. In the past I have taught for The University of Manitoba Prepatory Studies, The Manitoba Conservatory, and the Canadian Conservatory (Halifax). I currently teach Monday and Tuesday at Long and McQuade (Stafford) as well as privately.
