Kasey Kurtz

Kasey Kurtz is a Winnipeg-based guitarist, music educator and composer proficient in a wide variety of genres including jazz, rock, and pop. Major influences on Kasey’s writing and playing range from Chick Corea and Pat Metheny to Steely Dan and Billy Joel. Kasey obtained his B. Jazz in 2020 and completed his B. Ed. in 2023, both from the University of Manitoba. He has taught in a variety of musical contexts, from private lessons to concert bands and just about everywhere in between. Kasey teaches jazz guitar privately and at the University of Manitoba, and is a substitute teacher in St. James-Assiniboia and Pembina Trails School Divisions. As a performer, Kasey has played all around Manitoba with acts including the Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, The Sadler Sisters, and Sir Luc and the Dukes. Notable performance credits include the Winnipeg Jazz Festival and Dauphin’s Countryfest, as well as top venues like the West End Cultural Centre, Good Will Social Club, and Times Change(d).
