Prelude – March 2021

Dear Members,

Royalties…the gift that keeps on giving!

  • According to an article from the July 20/2019 issue of Billboard magazine, Canadian rapper Drake took in an estimated $20.2 million in music royalties during 2018.
  • Members who release recorded product (various media) using a duly-completed A.F.M. contract (and registering their works where required), stand to benefit from a variety of royalties; these potential earnings can definitely increase an artist’s financial bottom line!
  • During Local 190’s upcoming Taking Care of Business webinar March 24 at noon, Matt Craig (M.R.O.C. Musician Liaison) will discuss artist royalties that flow through the Musicians’ Rights Organization Canada (M.R.O.C.) including those that arise from Neighbouring Rights and Private Copying levies.

Please see the 2021 March Webinar Flyer MROC PDF file for more information. Register by emailing the office at least one day prior.

Have a great one!
